Preventive Care Plans
Ask us about our new Preventative Care Plan. With equal monthly billing, you can now fit your pet’s health care into your budget!
Individualized care plans available for tartar removal, red gums, broken teeth, bad breath and sore gums.
We understand that illness in your pet's mouth will cause your pet pain, and will lead to other medical problems which could shorten his/her life.
Dental health has long been an overlooked part of the care many people provide their pets. Dental disease is a very common and very significant problem in our companion animal population. Poor dental health can contribute to other seemingly unrelated health problems, can be extremely painful and is often preventable. Our pets do their best to hide this pain from us.
We offer dental services ranging from dental x-rays, ultrasonic scaling and polishing to oral surgeries and extractions. We will also offer advice on how to maintain your pets’ dental health at home.
Hip Arthritis in Dogs
Individualized care for sore joints, sore hips, torn cruciate ligaments, sore elbows, sore backs and other older pet problems.
If screening radiographs for hip dysplasia are taken early in puppyhood and the hips are found to be abnormal, there is a lot that we can do to prevent the painful limitations of arthritis in your pet. Please let us help your pet to enjoy this benefit.
We offer Laparoscopy as an option to traditional scalpel surgery, for less pain for yourcompanion. Laparoscopy involves the use of a fibre optic telescope and camera to visualize various areas within our patients. We use laparoscopy to explore and perform surgical procedures and obtain biopsies within the abdominal cavity, as well as the bladder and to examine and obtain biopsies from within the nasal cavity. Abdominal surgery performed using this technology has been proven to be 66% less painful for your companion.
The most common minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical procedure performed at our hospital is the laparoscopic spay. Laparoscopy is used in human medicine in virtually every instance where it can eliminate the need for open abdominal surgery and we are pleased to be among the first few clinics in Canada to offer the option of a laparoscopic spay to our clients.

We know life is busy, so we do our very best to accommodate your busy schedule! We book medical consultations Monday through Saturday, including evenings. If you or your pet is unable to come to our hospital, we offer other options.
We schedule thirty minutes for each new or sick pet we examine. After your consultation with our Veterinarians, a Registered Veterinary Technologist will ensure that you understand, and are comfortable with all aspects of the available treatment options and plan for your companion.
We offer pet cancer therapy for dogs and cats. We work in conjunction with world-renowned oncology specialists to provide your pets with treatment options we would not be able to provide without the help of an oncologist. This means that your companion can now be cared for here at Princess Animal Hospital, rather than being sent to a referral centre.
Dogs are taken out for a play and walk at least three times per day, and our cat friends get lots of snuggles from our cat-crazy care team!
Our regular boarding pets are often invited to join our staff in the hospital’s lunch room, etc., for extra attention , so they have a great "at home" feeling while staying with us!
We have lots of toys to keep your friends busy, and we like to play with them, whenever we’re able and our treat jars are never empty!
At Princess Animal Hospital we want to ensure your pet has as good a time during their stay with us, as you’re having on your getaway!
Veterinary medicine now incorporates this discipline as a way to help speed recovery, reduce pain and increase the quality of life for pets. We are happy to provide, or make a referral for rehabilitation and physical therapy for post-surgical patients and older pets who need care for arthritis.
At Princess Animal Hospital, we offer radiosurgery as an option to the traditional scalpel surgery. This technology is widely utilized in the human medical specialties due to the benefits of decreased bleeding, swelling and post-surgical pain.
Ultrasonography & Specialist Consultations
At Princess Animal Hospital, we have an in-house ultrasound, and use telemedicine technology for same-day, medical specialist consultations. Telemedicine is the transmission of X-ray and ultrasound images via the internet to specialists who are world renowned.
Ultrasonography allows for real time visualization of a number of internal structures and processes. Unlike plain radiographs (x-rays), ultrasound imaging allows us to see the tissue architecture within organs, to visualise the pumping process of the heart and to make accurate measurements of a number of structures within the body. It is also an excellent means of obtaining minimally invasive guided biopsy samples.
With advances in telemedicine, we have access to the best veterinary minds in the world. A report can be sent to us within 20 minutes of your pet's data reaching the specialist.
At Princess Animal Hospital, we maintain a supply of common medications pets require. When more specialized medications are needed, we use our contacts at human pharmacies in Kingston to obtain them.
We carry a range of pet food. Prescription foods are available for pets with specific illnesses. Life stage diets are available for healthy, young, adult and senior dogs and cats. Also, you can use our “online order” feature, and have your pet’s food delivered right to your home!
We will tailor a health care program to suit the needs of your pet. We provide preventive medicine and health care from birth through the golden years.
